Photography

The photos we use reflect the stories we tell and the people they portray. We showcase authentic, real people in a way that brings their stories to life.

Editing

Our photo style keeps the subject in focus and uses focal depth. Story focused. Our editing style has warmer colors and high contrast.

Focal Depth

Our photos keep the subject in focus with a blurred background.

A young girl sitting on her dad's lap and laughing.

Expression

Our photos have natural expressions, not forced expressions. Capture actual, candid moments.

Warmth

Set the color about 10% warmer than neutral/natural lighting/true white.

Human Element

Add in playful, childlike elements that help fight the stereotype that kids from foster care are scary.

Treatments

Treatments create a hierarchy in design, drawing attention to the most important part of the message, whether visual or text. Treatments can create visual contrast that is characteristic of our brand or point to an action we want the viewer to take.

Isolated Subject

With this treatment, the photo should be isolated while pulling branding elements into the background. We use this treatment when we want the focus to be on the message.

Shadow

This treatment uses an isolated grayscale photo with the shadow shifted to the right. We use this treatment when we want to focus on the message rather than the subject of the photo.

Backdrop Shift

This treatment accents the photo with a shifted shadow and pattern.  We use this for stories and giving context when the focus is more on the people in the story.

Blocked

This treatment draws attention to the photo and uses background elements. The isolated photo should break shape that it is contained in.
